Luke 11: 2-4---- The 3Rs and 3 Hs
Yes, Jesus came to seek and save the lost, but He also came to show us how to reverence God and live in the earth!
When the disciples asked Jesus to teach them to pray- Jesus' response pointed the disciples to pray about how they live---- to reverence God and be mindful of holiness. I think of Luke 11:2-4 illustrating the following 3Rs and 3 Hs:
R1: Fear God- keep His name holy!
R2: Want God's way of doing things to fill the earth (e.g. love, holiness, obedience)
R3: Dont worry about tomorrow (Matt 6:34)- trust God and focus on today! Give God praise for daily provision.
H1: Repent and ask God to forgive our sins
H2: Live a life of forgiveness-- where we forgive those who have sinned against us--- such that we care about God forgiving their sins---so much so that we pray that their sins are also forgiven.
H3: Be free from temptation- by not yielding to temptation.
Basically, the disciples were saying Yeshua-- teach us how to live.
Lord God help us to pray, love you and others, obey your Word, and be holy for you are holy! In Jesus' great name we pray. Amen!
