What We Believe

We believe spiritual health is rooted in knowing God personally and being known by Him. The greatest treasure available to every believer is a deep, intimate relationship with God that transforms every aspect of life. While knowledge of Scripture, faithful service, and sound convictions are valuable, they are not substitutes for genuine intimacy with Him. True spiritual health is marked by a heart that continually responds to God's invitation to know Him more deeply, walk closely with Him, and reflect His character through a life of faith, love, and obedience.

History of the Lord's Side

The Lord's Side and Lord's Side Institute was founded by Dr. Jen'nea Sumo. Her life's journey has been marked by seasons of misunderstanding, delayed obedience, and mishandling God's heart. Through His grace and loving correction, He taught her that the goal of the Christian life is not merely to do things for God, but to love Him, know Him, and align our hearts with His. 

That direction led her to write books, create Spiritual Health Assessments (e.g., Seven Churches Self-Assessment), and courses/workshops that invite believers to cultivate a relationship with God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. Her desire is to help Christians-- move away from religion into a genuine, transforming relationship with the Lord—one marked by surrender, intimacy, obedience, and joy. Jen'nea Sumo is a PhD-prepared nurse. During her 20 years in healthcare, she has cared for the mental and physical needs of patients, members of the community, and the educational needs of nursing students. With all her experience, she emerged believing that the deepest medicine is intimacy with God.

Her message is simple: Knowing God and being known by God is the true treasure and the real way believers get and stay spiritually healthy.

As a child, Jen'nea always wanted to create products and resources that could help God's children focus on Loving Him. She remembers walking through the "Things Remembered" store at the mall--she was longing to one day create products that could point people to the heart of God. The seed for the Lord's Side was planted during her child, but this larger Lord’s Side movement came about because of a Bible study she had with her children. One day after Bible study, the Holy Spirit instructed Jen'nea to write a children’s book about the lesson that was taught that day. Then about 5 minutes later, the Holy Spirit said to make a song about the lesson. The song is done, and the children’s book (The Wheat and Weeds) is available for purchase as narrated an ebook and in paperback. 

Now, the Lord’s Side is an Apostolic business created to encourage people to fall in love with God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit and make God known. Through this platform we work to point people to God's heart! The truth is- just because someone thinks that they are on the Lord's Side does not mean God agrees. As people who confess Christ, we must confirm that our election is sure, and the best way to choose the Lord's Side is to be intentional about caring for God's heart!
